Series Wins Critical Acclaim
Glowing reviews from major national television critics helped propel The Apprentice to the top of the ratings heap. Newsweek described the show as "perhaps the first reality program that's close to real," while Entertainment Weekly deemed the series, "Irresistible. Donald Trump lords over a group of eager apprentices, and viewers reap the rewards." Additionally, The New York Times raved, The Apprentice "takes a modest twist on the Survivor formula -- from jungle to urban jungle -- and improves on it."
Synopsis
Sixteen contestants from diverse backgrounds arrive in New York City for the "ultimate job interview" with real estate mogul Donald Trump. Split into a men's and a women's team, they compete in tasks that test their business skills -- from selling lemonade and managing a Jessica Simpson concert, to renovating and renting a Brooklyn apartment in three days. The winning team receives a lavish reward while the losers report to the boardroom where one team member will be fired personally by Trump. Ultimately, one contestant will be chosen as the 'Apprentice,' winning a $250,000-a-year dream job with The Trump Corporation. Along the way, personalities are revealed, alliances are formed, and trusts are betrayed, making The Apprentice the ultimate corporate reality show.
