Multi-Platinum Rapper and Producer ERICK SERMON Elevates the Hip-Hop Game With New Music
ERICK SERMON Releases Universal Motown Debut 'Chilltown NY' on June 22
NEW YORK, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Once again rap-pioneer Erick Sermon will breathe life and inject creativity into hip-hop. On June 22nd, the rapper/producer/entrepreneur will release his fifth solo project and Universal Motown debut CD, titled, Chilltown NY.
Having contributed to the success of more than 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum selling CDs, the Long Island-bred rapper/super-producer is already seeing heat with the first single release from "Chilltown NY," the controversial "Relentless." Famed DJ Funkmaster Flex added the single out of the box and it has become a staple on his nightly radio show. The song has already become an instant favorite among mix-tape deejays across the country.
Along the lines of the infectious hit single, "Music," that featured the sample of Motown legend Marvin Gaye, Chilltown NY's first official single will raise the bar another notch. The bass driven head banger, "Feel It" features reggae rapper Sean Paul and his track, "Like Glue."
A bona-fide hip-hop legend, Erick Sermon is also known as the "Green-Eyed Bandit." He first introduced himself to the music world as one half of the legendary rap duo EPMD ("Erick and Parrish (Smith) Making Dollars") in 1987. The duo created the hip-hop classic song, "It's My Thang," and 4 gold certified CDs: Strictly Business, Unfinished Business, Business Never Personal and Back In Business.
On his own, Erick Sermon went on to become a sought after producer. He's collaborated with such artists as Jay-Z, Pharell Williams, Nas, Mary J Blige, Blackstreet, Redman, D'Angelo and others. He's responsible for putting together Redman and Method Man and producing the duo's platinum single, "How High." Sermon was also one third of the rap super-group Def Squad, comprised of Keith Murray and Redman.
As a solo artist, he's released four CDs, No Pressure, (1994) Double Or Nothing, (1995) Music, (2001) and React, (2002) that spawned the hit title singles, "Music" and "React."
With an impressive track record of hit singles and superstar collaborations, this solo project marks yet another notch under Erick Sermon's belt. As always, he promises to deliver what music lovers expect from a true hip-hop legend. Hits.
