The new SOUND+VISION series from UMe brings together previously issued CD retrospectives and long-form DVD content, providing an in-depth overview of an artist's career.
ABBA GOLD: GREATEST HITS - SOUND+VISION combines ABBA GOLD - GREATEST HITS, the 1992 collection that has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide (six times platinum in the U.S.), its 1993 sequel MORE ABBA GOLD - MORE ABBA HITS, and the expanded 2003 DVD version of the gold-certified home video not-so-coincidentally also titled ABBA GOLD - GREATEST HITS.
The ABBA GOLD: GREATEST HITS CD features 19 digitally remastered ABBA classics including the gold #1 anthem "Dancing Queen"; #3 gold "Take A Chance On Me"; Top 10s "Waterloo" and "The Winner Takes It All"; Top 20s "S.O.S.," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "Fernando," "Does Your Mother Know" and "The Name Of The Game," and Top 40s "Mamma Mia" and "Chiquitita."
The MORE ABBA GOLD - MORE ABBA HITS CD adds another 20 digitally remastered ABBA classics, including the Top 15 "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do," Top 30s "Honey, Honey" and "When All Is Said And Done," and fan favorites such as "Summer Night City," "Eagle," "Angeleyes" and "Ring Ring."
The ABBA GOLD - GREATEST HITS DVD features promo clips for the 19 hits on the ABBA GOLD CD, from 1974's "Waterloo" to 1983's "One Of Us," each digitally remastered from the original and synchronized with the latest digitally restored version of the ABBA recording.
First released on VHS in 1993, the DVD version premiered in late 2003 expanded to approximately 99 minutes with two bonuses -- the 1992 version of "Dancing Queen" and "ABBA - The History," a 25-minute documentary created in 1999 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ABBA's victory in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo." The film offers an in-depth look at the making of ABBA's music, reflects on its amazing career and notes its ongoing revival, then coinciding with the opening of the musical "Mamma Mia!," based on the group's songs.
After selling more than 100 million records worldwide, ABBA officially disbanded in 1982. Today, more than two decades later, the ABBA phenomenon continues to grow with ABBA GOLD: GREATEST HITS - SOUND+VISION.
